LeafyGrade is never a black box. The score starts at 100 and drops clearly for each additive, for high sugar/salt/saturated fat, and for ultra-processing.

  • AI never sets the score — the engine is fully deterministic.
  • Honest with missing data: it says "not enough data", not "100".

Add your allergies, diet and health conditions to your profile, and LeafyGrade gives a personal fit verdict, separate from the general score. Lactose intolerant? Even a perfectly scored milk gets flagged for you.

Knowledge

E-numbers are no longer a mystery.

The Additives tab becomes a small encyclopedia: each E-number's risk level (low / moderate / caution / high), what it does and how it affects the score — sourced from EFSA and EU regulation.

LeafyGrade's score is a calculation, not an opinion. The same product scores the same for everyone; the number is never influenced by ads, sponsorships or AI. Additive risk levels are based on EFSA and EU regulation, and you see exactly where every point was lost.

When data is missing we're honest: instead of a misleading "100" we say "not enough data".

LeafyGrade collects no location data. You can use the app as a guest without an account; your profile and scans stay on your device. Create an account and everything syncs securely — and sensitive data like health or allergies is never sent to third-party analytics.

Product data comes from the open, community-driven Open Food Facts database; gaps in local products are filled with hand-verified curated data. Additive risk classification is based on EFSA and EU regulation.

No. LeafyGrade doesn't declare a product "halal"; it flags whether the ingredient list contains haram or questionable components. Always check the official label and any halal certification for the final decision.

If a product isn't found you can add its nutrition and ingredients manually, including from a photo of the label. When data is missing the app won't show a misleading "100" — it clearly says "not enough data".
